Bush the Chimp
Bush the Chimp

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - Belgian trainers helping police to understand body language have caused a controversy by likening George Bush's facial expressions to a chimpanzee's.

Interior Minister Patrick Dewael said he was unaware of the pictures when he signed a letter promoting the training package for police dealing with unruly soccer fans, and said the idea was "of bad taste," Het Laatste Nieuws daily reported.

The training presentation pictured the U.S. president's face in various expressions beside photographs of a chimpanzee, the paper showed on its front page, in what was meant to be a humorous introduction to the subject of reading expressions.

Dewael's office was not immediately available for comment.

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Mr. Common Sense.

Mr. Sense had been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons such as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm and that life isn't always fair. Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not kids, are in charge). His health began to rapidly deteriorate when well intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place.

Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition. Mr. Sense declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer aspirin to a student; but could not inform the parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Finally, Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband; churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense finally gave up the ghost after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot; she spilled a bit in her lap, and was awarded a huge financial settlement. Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust,  his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason. He is survived by two stepbrothers; My Rights and Ima Whiner.  Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. If you still remember him, pass this on; if not, join the majority and do nothing........

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - It was BYOTP time in Buffalo: Bring Your Own Toilet Paper.

A county budget crisis left the bathrooms in a municipal office building with empty soap dispensers, paperless paper towel holders and bare cardboard toilet paper rolls. Employees also complained the bathrooms weren't being cleaned.

"It's almost humorous, but it's disgusting," said Bob Fioretti, who has worked in Erie County's Rath Building for 21 years.

"When people got to bring their own toilet paper and soap to wash their hands, it's like working in another country, a bad country," he told WGRZ-TV. Fioretti said there was waste piling up in some of the toilets.

A county environmental health crew went through the building Wednesday and said many of the bathrooms were clean and on the way to being restocked. Some toilets, however, looked like they had been deliberately plugged, said Kevin Montgomery, spokesman for the county Health Department. Those bathrooms remained closed while the health department awaited plumbers.

"The Building and Grounds Department has been cut severely," Montgomery told The Associated Press on Thursday. Besides losing money, the department has had layoffs.

"Towels and soap were running out, and that was also due to this fiscal crisis," Montgomery said. Replacement supplies couldn't be ordered until the county shifted money around.

The county, on the eastern shore of Lake Erie, is home to nearly one million people and encompasses the city of Buffalo, the weathered city that has struggled to rebuild its economy since the steel and grain mills closed. Since the 1950s, the city has lost half its population and now numbers fewer than 300,000 people.

The county has had to slash 2,000 jobs and cut services to close a $100-million-plus shortfall in its $1.1-billion budget.
Rather than raise the sales tax, it cut funding for personnel, health clinics, auto bureaus, snowplowing, parks, the arts, school nurses and other services. At one point, it was possible that zoo animals would become refugees, temporarily shipped off to other zoos for lack of funding. But the county came up with the money to keep the animals

U.S. cattle ban expected to last a year

"The lobby group, R-CALF, argued the reopening would cause financial harm to U.S. producers."

Though I shouldn't really care that much... I get as much grade AAA meat as I want for next to nothing. Since I don't work in the Cattle industry... I don't much care.

Terri Schiavo.  Read this and tell me you think that keeping her alive indefinitely by artificial means is the "right thing to do" and not some sick and twisted act.  How do her parents propose that brain tissue now replaced by cerebral fluid is going to magically reappear?  A miracle because jesus is great?  Bite me.  Selfish assholes.  They just don't want to let go of their little girl who has been a vegetable for 15 years and shows no brain activity other than what keeps her breathing, and apparently sleeping and waking.

I'm sorry, but it's very hard to believe what her parents say about her husband being some monster who abused her.  He waited for 8 years before he asked to have the feeding tube removed.  He was close to Terri's parents for 3 years.  Why did they associate with him if he was a monster then too?  How can they hold it against him that he has started a family with someone else now?  His wife is GONE and she is never coming back.

Do they really think that a woman that was once beautiful would want to be shown to the world the way she is now?  Wouldn't she rather be remembered the way she was before her brain essentially died, instead of being seen all over the news  slobbering, clawing and gazing into space?  If anything like that ever happens to me, fucking shoot me, throw me out a window, whatever.  Just don't torture me the way she's being tortured right now.

Feb. 10th, 2005 @ 10:40 am "We live in an age of nuclear giants and ethical infants"
North Korea publicly announced for the first time Thursday that it has nuclear arms and rejected moves to restart disarmament talks anytime soon, saying it needs the weapons as protection against an increasingly hostile United States.

More here.

Not that I hope that we as nations blow the shit out of each other... Especially since I live 45 KM from the US boarder. But I honestly hope that they do develop the weapons. I say Kudos to North Korea, It's about time someone stuck up to the US. And again, my disappointment for the US increases as they threaten more and more countries with threats of invasion if they do not desist Nuclear programs... Oh right, only 'Democratic' countries should have that technology... Maybe NO country should have the rights to build nuclear weapons?

"The International Court of Justice in the Hague consider the legality of nuclear weapons. The Court's ruling, released on 8 July 1996, stated that "the threat or use of nuclear weapons would generally be contrary to the rules of international law applicable in armed conflict, and in particular the rules and principles of humanitarian law." The fourteen judges further stated that all countries are legally obliged to work for, and to achieve, 'nuclear disarmament in all its aspects.'

"The Canadian Government does not have nuclear weapons, opposes nuclear proliferation, and officially supports disarmament."

"We live in an age of nuclear giants and ethical infants, in a world that has achieved brilliance without wisdom, power without conscience. We have solved the mystery of the atom and forgotten the lessons of the Sermon on the Mount. We know more about war than we know about peace, more about dying than we know about living."   - General Omar Bradley

You can't have nuclear weapons but we can!

As it accuses Iran of trying to develop nuclear weapons, America is preparing to upgrade and renew parts of its own ageing nuclear arsenal. Critics believe the upgrades could lead the US to breach the treaty banning the testing of nuclear weapons.

Hey yo, and dick with this...uggh!
Word is born
Fight the war, fuck the norm
Now I got no patience
So sick of complacence
With the D the E the F the I the A the N the C the E
Mind of a revolutionary
So clear the lane
The finger to the land of the chains
What? The land of the free?
Whoever told you that is your enemy?

Come on!
Yes I know my enemies
They're the teachers who taught me to fight me
Compromise, conformity, assimilation, submission
Ignorance, hypocrisy, brutality, the elite
All of which are American dreams (8 times)
